Watch Joe Mauer’s Diving Catch For a Foul Ball During the Twins / Orioles Series [VIDEO]

Through his high school career, Joe Mauer showed he was a true athlete. Mauer played baseball, football, and basketball for Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul. Many of his all-around athletic abilities have enabled him to become one of the most recognizable faces behind a Major League home plate today.

In game 2 of a home series against the Baltimore Orioles, Mauer raced from behind home to catch a foul ball to retire the batter. While I feel like the commentators exaggerate the awesomeness of the catch to a degree, it is an impressive catch for someone in catcher’s gear to get out and snag.
