Adrian Peterson Says He is “95% Healthy”
When it comes to recovery from a major knee injury, the road to healthy is a long and trying one. Vikings rusher Adrian Peterson had a strong showing in his week one appearance, offering up over 80 yards and two touchdowns, but he says he’s not 100% heathy yet.
Peterson admitted to the press after the Vikings Jaguars game on Sunday that he is not fully healthy yet. He continued to explain in a press event today that he’s 95% back to full strength. He went on to explain that final 5% makes a huge difference for him and the team, saying the following:
Just being more explosive with my strength. It doesn’t sound like much from the outside looking in. But I know my game and I know where I want to be, and it’s going to be huge once I get 100 percent — like night and day, seriously.
Peterson admitted he felt a little tightness in his knee on Monday morning; but after a little ice and some stretching, he said he felt pretty good.
As the Vikings look for another win in Indianapolis this Sunday, Peterson will again play a role in victory. As AP continues his recovery, Christian Ponder seems to be improving over the quarterback we got introduced to last season. After a rough start, Ponder tells the media he needs to pick up his intensity in the game early on and “almost play angry” to get himself and the rest of the offense fired up. Every ounce of energy will be needed as the Vikings head on the road and look to go 2-0 and try to stay on top of the NFC North for another week.
